a multi-stage evaluation approach for identifying critical factors affecting the sustainable growth of startups and entrepreneurial ventures

Authors
Abstract    sustainable growth of startups is one of the key factors in regional economic development and innovation. despite substantial investments in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, many startups face challenges in achieving sustainable growth due to the lack of effective evaluation mechanisms. this study aims to examine the role of a multi-stage evaluation model as a structured approach to accelerating the sustainable growth of startups. the statistical population consists of 180 newly established businesses operating in incubators and accelerators across golestan province, whose data were collected through structured interviews and completion of evaluation forms. the evaluation model used includes a variety of indicators in the areas of team, product, market, investment, and financial performance, assessed at different stages of startup growth. statistical analysis of the data using descriptive statistics, correlation tests, and multiple regression revealed a positive and significant relationship between multi-stage evaluation scores and sustainable success indicators, including sales, investment attraction, and job creation. furthermore, the results indicated that certain evaluation stages—particularly those related to market development and business model improvement—had the greatest impact on sustainable growth. the findings of this study can assist incubators, investors, and policymakers in optimizing evaluation processes and using them as an effective tool to guide startups toward sustainable success.
