Abstract
this research aims to introduce the fundamental concepts of topology and explore its role in a deeper understanding and more effective teaching of certain physical phenomena and novel material structures. to this end, a formal definition of topological space is first presented, and by giving examples of discrete and trivial topologies, an intuitive basis for understanding topological structures is provided. then, using euler s formula for simple polyhedra and explaining the educational method based on surface triangulation, a visual and tangible framework is formed for understanding the topological properties of shapes, such as the number of holes, connectivity, and connectedness. furthermore, the unique structure of the möbius strip is studied as a classic example of topological objects, especially its properties of being one-sided and non-orientable, which well illustrate the non-trivial nature of topology. in the applications section, this research addresses the role of topology in modern physics, with particular reference to topological insulators, nanostructures with stable edge states, and the unusual behavior of electrons in low-dimensional systems. the findings suggest that using a topological approach not only facilitates the understanding of abstract concepts such as space structure and symmetry but also provides a rich conceptual framework for explaining the persistence of physical properties against continuous changes and predicting the behavior of advanced materials. this perspective can be used as a powerful tool in basic science education, especially at advanced high school and university levels.
