Abstract
during the process of learning, whether consciously or unconsciously, certain aspects of the human five senses will undoubtedly be engaged. the aim of this article is to investigate the impact of employing the five senses on individuals learning outcomes. what typically occurs in schools and classrooms nowadays is learning using a limited number of the five senses. the predominant learning in our current education system, relying on only two senses—visual and auditory—has led to neglecting the potential effects of simultaneously utilizing all the senses. in contrast to the common teaching method, which employs only the dual senses of vision and hearing, using the senses of touch, taste, and smell can greatly contribute to long-term and more enjoyable learning. employing all five senses not only adds depth to learning and creates greater engagement in the learning process but also activates the working memory over a broader time span during learning. the basis of the mentioned limited benefits and the wide spectrum of unspoken and unknown advantages of simultaneously utilizing all five senses lies in the number of neurons activated during the learning process. with each additional sense engaged during learning, the number of active neurons increases, reaching its peak when using all five senses of vision, smell, touch, hearing, and taste.
