photoelectric effect and its role in reducing the carbon footprint

Authors
Abstract    this study examines the role of the photoelectric effect in reducing the carbon footprint and its application as a clean-energy technology. the aim is to explain the mechanism of converting light into electricity through the release of electrons in semiconductors and to demonstrate the potential of this process in decreasing dependence on fossil fuels. first, the interaction of light and matter that generates electrical current is described, followed by an analysis of the environmental implications of this technology with emphasis on reducing co₂ emissions. the method is conceptual analysis based on existing scientific findings related to the photoelectric effect and solar-energy applications. results show that direct conversion of solar energy into electricity using photoelectric-based cells can significantly reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, especially in the power sector, which is heavily dependent on fossil fuels. increasing the efficiency and widespread use of photoelectric technologies in residential and industrial sectors can further contribute to long-term carbon‑footprint reduction and support the transition to sustainable energy.
