a strategic marine-based green economy for mitigating the consequences of climate change

Authors
Abstract    one of the most significant environmental concerns, particularly in achieving sustainable development, is the emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. greenhouse gas emissions resulting from economic activities and the consumption of fossil fuels are a major contributor to global warming and climate change. the increase in atmospheric greenhouse gas levels leads to a rise in ocean temperatures, which in turn causes consequences such as the decline and loss of marine biodiversity. consequently, numerous solutions have been investigated by researchers for this purpose. the transition from a traditional economic approach towards a green economy, by balancing the economic, social, and environmental dimensions, facilitates the achievement of sustainable development goals. this article, by reviewing comprehensive and credible scientific literature, examines the capabilities of biochar produced from marine and fishery biomass in carbon sequestration and mitigating the effects of climate change, while also reviewing the negative impacts of ocean warming. in hormozgan province, a significant amount of marine and fishery waste remains unused and sometimes causes aesthetic and environmental pollution in coastal areas. producing biochar from this biomass is considered a promising method for increasing carbon sequestration, thereby preventing co2ext{co}_2co2 entry into the atmosphere and reducing pollution in human living environments. furthermore, it can lead to soil fertility improvement and increased agricultural productivity. the results of this research indicated that ocean warming not only brings environmental and economic consequences but also presents a multifaceted challenge to the sustainability of marine resources and food security. however, utilizing marine waste and biomass for biochar production can be a dynamic approach to reducing the effects of global warming. it is suggested that the country’s environmental and energy policymakers prioritize the production and application of marine biochar as a tool for mitigating climate change and preserving marine biodiversity in their sustainable development plans.
