چکیده
|
Cyanide is a highly toxic compound that is widely used in the gold plating and mining industries. its entry into water and soil resources through the wastewater of these industries can have significant environmental hazards. the purpose of this research work was to investigate the ability and absorption power of various adsorbents on cyanide in a simulated experimental solution. the adsorbents used included activated carbon, iron sulfate, polyaluminum chloride, javel water solution (sodium hypochlorite), hydrogen peroxide, and a combination of all the materials used. cyanide concentration before and after the processes was measured using uv-vis spectroscopy method. the results showed that the efficiency of cyanide removal by activated carbon was significantly higher than that of other adsorbents studied. as a result, activated carbon with a large internal specific surface area and high adsorption capacity is proposed as a cheap, effective and available adsorbent for the removal of cyanide from industrial wastewater. these findings confirm the high effectiveness of activated carbon in the treatment of industrial wastewater containing cyanide .
