چکیده
|
Enteric methane (ch₄) emissions from ruminant livestock are a significant short-term climate forcer and has been selected for action in the context of mitigation due to methane s high global warming potentials and relatively short atmospheric time. by way of conclusion, this review highlights (1) the biology of rumen methanogenesis, (2) high-efficacy mitigation tools including 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-nop) and seaweed, (3) proposed mitigation strategies including nutrition incorporating both nutrition and genetic selection, (4) trade-offs and system-level complications in mitigation, and (5) the current status and avenues for methane reduction in iran. 3-nop reduces enteric ch₄ in dairy cattle by ~25-35% in controlled timings has a high degree of certainty while seaweed (asparagopsis sp. (domoic acid and acute toxicity) yet offers promising results. the need for multiple diet and genetic solutions combined with manure management practices to gain long-term system level impact is critical. iran s national communication reports enteric fermentation as ~90% of agricultural ch₄ in 2010 equivalent to ~886.3 gg of ch₄ suggesting important mitigation potential from livestock settings overall.
