production of space and spatial justice in various urban neighborhoods

Authors
Abstract    the rapid urban transformations in recent decades reflect structural changes in the economic, social, and cultural systems of societies. the increasing growth of urbanization, concentration of capital and services in specific parts of cities, and the formation ofinefficient and disadvantaged spaces have turned spatial justice into one of the fundamentalpillars of urban planning. in this context, the theory of “production of space” - as one of thekey approaches in geography and urban studies - emphasizes that space is not merely aphysical setting, but rather the product of power relations, economic structures, and socialprocesses that are formed and reproduced over time. therefore, spatial inequality is not anaccidental phenomenon but a direct result of policies, decision-making, and resourcedistribution systems at the urban level. the purpose of this article is to investigate therelationship between the dimensions of space production and the realization of spatial justicein urban neighborhoods, and to explain how urban policy-making can enhance justice, equalaccess to services, social opportunities, and overall quality of life. the research method isdescriptive-analytical, based on library resources and official documents. findings indicatethat spatial justice goes beyond the equal distribution of physical facilities, requiring equalopportunities, citizen participation, transparency in urban governance, and attention to theneeds of marginalized and disadvantaged populations. in conclusion, achieving spatialjustice demands comprehensive, human-centered urban planning grounded in local identityand capabilities-planning that prevents the reproduction of spatial inequalities inneighborhoods and fosters sustainable and balanced urban development.
