evaluation of the efficiency of the fenton advanced oxidation process in removing organic compounds, ammonia, and chloride from landfill leachate for liquid fertilizer production

Authors
Abstract    the increase in leachate generation at landfill sites leads to severe contamination of surrounding soil andwater resources. in this study, the removal of organic pollutants, ammonia, and chloride from landfill leachatewas investigated using the fenton advanced oxidation process. experiments were conducted in triplicateacross different iron dosages (0.5–4.5 g) and hydrogen peroxide concentrations (2–12 ml). the highestchemical oxygen demand (cod) removal efficiency of 56% was achieved under the optimized conditions offe = 3.5 g, and h₂o₂ = 10 ml. moreover, the fenton process exhibited superior performance for ammoniaremoval, with an efficiency of 91%. based on comparison with discharge standards, the treated effluentqualifies for reuse in liquid fertilizer production.
