optimization of natural zeolite adsorption for the removal of ammonia, chloride, and organic pollutants from landfill leachate for liquid fertilizer production

Authors
Abstract    in this study, the adsorption performance of natural zeolite was evaluated for the removal of key landfillleachate pollutants, including organic compounds, ammonia, and chloride. the experiments were conductedby considering zeolite particle sizes (0.074, 1–0, and 3–1 mm) and zeolite doses (12.5, 17.5, and 22.5 g). theresults indicated that the highest removal efficiency (21%) was achieved using particles of 3–1 mm size ata 12.5 g dose. these findings demonstrate the potential applicability of natural zeolite as an effective adsorbentfor reducing the pollutant load of landfill leachate and enabling the use of the treated effluent for liquidfertilizer production.
