testing the conceptual model between the perception of the learning environment and the sense of belonging to the school with the mediating role of academic vitality in elementary school students in momsani county
the present study, which was conducted with the aim of testing the conceptual model between the perception of the learning environment and the sense of belonging to the school with the mediating role of academic vitality among students, is considered a descriptive correlational study. the statistical population of this study included all elementary school students in noorabad momsani county in the academic year 1402-1403, from which 285 people, including 139 girls and 146 boys, were selected as a statistical sample using the random-cluster sampling method. to collect data, the questionnaires of students' perception of the learning environment by haqqizi and karsheki (2015), the questionnaire of academic vitality by hosseinchari and dehghani zadeh (2012), and the questionnaire of school belonging by barry et al. (2004) were used. the obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, mean, and standard deviation, and the relationship between variables was examined using pearson's correlation coefficient test and path analysis.
the results of the study showed that there is a statistically significant relationship between the perception of the learning environment and the students' sense of belonging to the school, such that the more positive the perception, the stronger the sense of belonging. also, a significant relationship was observed between the perception of the learning environment and the students' academic vitality, which indicates that a suitable learning environment can increase academic enthusiasm and motivation. on the other hand, a significant relationship was also obtained between academic vitality and the sense of belonging to the school, which indicates the key role of vitality in creating a sense of belonging. path analysis also confirmed that academic vitality plays an important mediating role between the perception of the learning environment and the sense of belonging to the school, and the presented model has a good fit, so that it can be used as an efficient framework to improve teaching and learning processes in schools.
the findings of the study emphasize the importance of paying attention to psychological and environmental factors in improving academic performance and increasing students' emotional cohesion. finally, it is recommended that teachers and school administrators, by creating attractive and supportive learning environments, while strengthening academic vitality, promote students' sense of belonging in order to pave the way for academic success and appropriate psychological development of students. researchers can also investigate other factors that may be effective in these relationships in future studies and design more complementary models.
