content and document (sanad) analysis of maqtal al-ḥusayn (as) by abū mikhnaf

Abū mikhnaf, lūṭ ibn yaḥyā azdī, was one of the historians of the first century and among the narrators of historical hadiths. his name is associated with the recording of events related to iraq, evoking occurrences such as the battle of jamal, ṣiffīn, the incident of karbala, the uprising of mukhtār, and more. one of his most important works is the maqtal al-ḥusayn (as), which has drawn the attention of both early and later scholarly circles and is considered an inspiring element. the present study aims to explore the historical, literary, and biographical aspects of the maqtal al-ḥusayn. in this historical work, textual and biographical points are examined, and it also reports the existence of a fake martyrdom work bearing the same name. it seeks to explain the reasons for the differences and the nature of its forgery. this work serves as a response to contemporary enthusiasts seeking accurate and authentic details about this event, and perhaps this very concern has spurred the compilation of similar works. thus, it aims to clarify the credibility of abū mikhnaf and the scholarly value of his work maqtal al-ḥusayn (as). additionally, it seeks to shine a light on works that intend to utilize or rewrite abū mikhnaf's martyrdom account. it is hoped that this article will provide an appropriate answer to the question of ‘who was the first to write about the maqtal al-ḥusayn?’ ‘how credible it is?’ and ‘how the authenticity of these reports and narratives has been examined?’ this article has been used library method to collect data.

سیری در محتوا و سند «مقتل الحسین(ع)» اثر ابومخنف

ابومخنف، لوط بن یحیی ازدی یکی از اخباریان (مورخان) بارز قرن یکم هجری و در زمره محدّثان احادیث تاریخی است. نام او از آن جهت که به ثبت حوادث مربوط به عراق پرداخته، تداعی‌گر وقایعی همچون جنگ جمل، صفین، واقعه کربلا، قیام مختار و ... است. همچنین یکی از مهمترین آثار ابومخنف، مقتل الحسین(ع) است که مورد توجه محافل علمی متقدمین و متاخرین بوده است و عنصری الهام‌بخش به آثار دانشمندان تلقی می‌شود. در این مقاله سعی شده تا علاوه بر بررسی شخصیت ابومخنف از جنبه‌های مختلف تاریخی و ادبی، این اثر تاریخی نیز در ابعاد متفاوت مورد بررسی قرار گیرد تا به این ترتیب به آشنایی هر چه بیشتر با شخصیت صاحب اثر به ویژه «مقتل الحسین» وی دست پیدا کرد تا این منبع متقدم مورد کنکاش قرار گیرد. اثری که نقش بسیار مهمی در بیان یکی از غمناکترین حوادث تاریخی صدر اسلام دارد. به همین دلیل معاصران تمایل داشتند از جزئیات وقایع رخداده در کربلا مطلع شوند و ای بسا همین امر انگیزه و محرکی برای تدوین آثاری از این قبیل بوده. تا به این ترتیب اعتبار ابومخنف و نیز ارزش علمی اثر او مقتل الحسین(ع) هر چه بیشتر روشن گردد. و چراغی باشد در برابر آثاری که قصد دارند از این اثر استفاده یا آن را به نحوی بازنویسی کنند.
