Abstract
this research aims to criticize and analyze ibn taymiyyah's view on the essential connection between nature and faith. the necessity of addressing this issue stems from the theological and epistemological consequences of ibn taymiyyah's theory, which considers faith and knowledge of the creator as self-evident, necessary, inherent, and undeniable, and considers it as the first self-evident necessity embedded in human nature. this research has used an analytical-critical method to examine ibn taymiyyah's theoretical foundations and quranic and hadith references. the most important findings show that ibn taymiyyah's absolute emphasis on the necessity and inevitability of this connection, which we interpret as compensation, faces fundamental challenges; among them: the methodological contradiction between the axiom of faith and his own need to provide rational arguments, the contradiction with the quranic evidence regarding the denial of creation by the atheists and deniers, and the lack of explicit indication of the verses cited (such as the verse of the covenant and the verse of nature) on the necessity of realizing current faith, but rather indicating the ease of knowledge and innate aptitude. also, his hadith evidence was found to be distorted in terms of chain of transmission and inference. as a result, this study confirms the distinction between innate aptitude (the field of knowledge) and voluntary faith (the realization of knowledge) and considers ibn taymiyyah's theory to lack a comprehensive explanation of human agency and responsibility in the path of faith due to its tendency towards epistemological compensation.
