Gas-hydrates are a naturally formed marine resource of gas that used as a source of combustible energy. makran region is one of the known areas for the occurrence of gas-hydrates resource. in this paper, the effect of tectonic activities on the formation, distribution, and geometry of gas-hydrates and bottom simulating reflectors (bsrs) have been investigated using detailed geological interpretation of 2d seismic data and tectono-sedimentary analysis in the makran offshore region. obtained results show that the most weak and discontinuous bsrs were observed in the upper slope area, while strong and continuous bottom simulating reflectors were seen in lower slope area. in the upper slope, extensional tectonic movements and uplifting can favor fluid escapes giving origin to weaker and most discontinuous bottom simulating reflectors. in lower slope, during frontal accretion processes (folding and thrusting), high fluid circulation and stable tectonic conditions however can be responsible of stronger and most continuous bottom simulating reflectors. as a result, accretionary tectonic during time is one of the effective parameter in formation multiple bsrs in makran offshore region.
