In this article, conventional methods of treating the spent caustic is investigated. these methods are often divided into two parts, thermal and chemical them. such as burning, injected deep into the ground, neutralization, coagulation and flocculation, wet air oxidation, advanced oxidation and each of these items also to review the appropriateness of the site, have been improved perception. each of these methods has advantages and disadvantages. application of these methods is limited due to different combinations of spent caustic.
