Volatile organic compounds (vocs) are released from various sources and are unsafe for human health. nanocatalyst materials are promising candidates for the adsorption of vocs owing to their increased ratio of surface area to volume. in this work, nanopolyoxomolybdate na48[hxmo368o1032(h2o)240(so4)48].ca.1000h2o-{mo368} impregnated polyacrylonitrile (pan) electrospun mats were synthesized using electrospinning for the removal of vocs from the air. the different {mo368} amounts in the electrospun mats were studied. the adsorption capacities were measured for acetone, benzen, and dichloromethane. porous materials have been used for the removal of vocs in membrane processes, adsorption, and chromatographic separation.nanofibers composite polyacrylonitrile functionalized with lemon-shape polyoxomolybdate {mo368} were prepared using an electrospinning process. since air pollution is effective in reducing the respiratory capacity of the police that directly exposed to exhaust fumes, the respiratory capacity in most of the above mentioned individuals is not at normal level, so the addition of nanostructures {mo368} can increase the properties of polyacrylonitrile fibres and improve its performance in air purifying membranes with a high removal rate of pollutants.this nanofiber was characterized by several spectroscopic and analytical techniques including sem, tem, ft-ir and .... accordingly, nanofiber morphology can be influenced by many parameters relevant to solution properties (viscosity, elasticity, conductivity, and surface tension), process parameters (electric potential, flow rate, concentration, and the distance between the capillary and collector), and ambient parameters (temperature, humidity, and air velocity). the electrospinning techniques have been applied to produce adsorbents for voc removal.the prepared solution was added in a syringe to draw fibers. the fibers were collected on an aluminium foil collector which was placed at a distance of 15 cm near the needle tip. the applied voltage was 16 kv and the flow rate was controlled at 0.8 ml/min.further work on mechanistic studies and oxidation of particular air pollutants with giant nano-polyoxometalate cluster are ongoing in our laboratory.
