|
Hydrogenation is one of the essential steps in the oil industry due to improving the oxidative stability of the oils. heterogeneous catalysts were well developed for the hydrogenation of different chemicals in industrial scale. one of the promising supports for the catalyst immobilization (heterogenation) is halloysite nanotube (hnt). the advantages of using the hnt in the synthesis of catalysts for the hydrogenation process are: higher thermal and mechanical resistance, more extended stability, larger surface area, more availability, non-toxic nature, biocompatibility and reusability. there have been reported several critical parameters affecting the hydrogenation efficiency such as temperature, pressure, type and the amount of catalyst. (1)in the current study, a novel polymer network-halloysite composite was synthesized for the immobilization of palladium nanoparticles (pd nps). then, it was used as an efficient catalyst for the hydrogenation of polyalphaolefin type oils. in this aspect, different reaction parameters including time, h2 pressure, catalyst amount and pd loading were optimized to achieve a fully hydrogenized pao oil (i.e. efficiency more than 98 %).the synthesis route includes three primary steps as the following:1: surface modification of natural halloysite clay nanotubes with aminopropyltriethoxysilane (aptes).2: polymerization of 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine (tct) with a diamine compound to achieve polymer functionalized halloysite.3: preparing a heterogeneous catalyst by the immobilization of pd on the polymer-halloysite composite support.catalyst synthesis procedure is represented in scheme 1.
