چکیده    Nanofibers composite polypropylene functionalized with giant-type polyoxometalates {mo142} were prepared using an electrospinning process. since air pollution is effective in reducing the respiratory capacity of the police that directly exposed to exhaust fumes, the respiratory capacity in most of the above mentioned individuals is not at normal level, so the addition of nanostructures {mo142} can increase the properties of polypropylene fibres and improve its performance in air purifying membranes with a high removal rate of pollutants.the novel nanofiber composite with {mo142} shows particularly high activity towards the oxidation of volatile organic compounds (vocs) present in urban air thus anticipating future environmental applications. the nanofibers composite were characterized by several spectroscopic and analytical techniques including scanning electron microscopy (sem) technique, chemical composition of composite nanofibers obtained by fourier transform transformation (ft-ir) spectroscopy and confirmation of the presence of {mo142} in nanofibers structure using spectroscopy solid state electron was studied. the study of the physical, chemical and structural properties of composite nanofibres showed that nanoparticles were well distributed on the polymer surface and had good bonding and adhesion.after optimizing different conditions of nanofibers membrane showed high efficiency in adsorption of pollutants that adsorption of different types of these compounds. optimized conditions include 7% weight percentages of {mo142}, 16 kv voltage, feed rate of 1 ml/h, nozzle to collector 15 cm and the rotating speed of the collector is 500 rpm.the nanofibers/pom composite were tested for urban air vocs removal, at ca. 25◦c, in order to evaluate the oxidative catalytic potential of these new nanofiber in environmental applications. qualitative analysis of gc chromatograms reveals the oxidation of the majority of c5–c11 vocs towards low molecular weight degradation products (peak shift to low retention times) or oxygenated products (peak shift to high retention times). hence, aforementioned poms incorporated in polypropylene may be suggested as effective and regenerable catalysts for vocs oxidation. this opens new perspectives towards functional filtering materials for indoor and outdoor air purification. further work on mechanistic studies and oxidation of particular air pollutants with nanofiber/{mo142} is in progress.
