   in-service instructors’ motivational strategy use for enhancing efl students’ speaking skill

چکیده    The purpose of this study was to investigate the in-service instructors’ motivational strategy use for improving efl learners’ speaking skill. the participants of the study were 64 graduate students of tefl at the iran university of science and technology. the instrument used in this study was a three open-ended questions, and content analysis was carried out on the instructors’ responses to the questions, and then patterns in their responses were identified and analyzed quantitatively using frequency and percentages. the results of the study revealed that promoting learners’ speaking skill and enhancing their speaking accuracy and fluency were the most frequent teachers’ expectations of a course on speaking motivational strategies. the results also indicated that teachers’ use of interesting and relevant subjects, pleasant and supportive class atmosphere, and using various speaking tasks were the techniques which motivated them as a learner to speak. in addition, group work, using various interesting tasks, encouraging learners and providing them with positive feedback, and improving their self-confidence were the most frequent strategies teachers used for motivating efl learners to speak.
