audiovisual translation: a study of iran-europe film subtitle translation perspectives and language learning

This study showed that audiovisual translation is developing in europe and iran (focusing specifically on the subtitle translation branch of the film). first, the paper addressed film translation from the european perspective and analyzed european researchers achievements. second, the paper analyzed the iranian viewpoint on film translation and described its transition and growth in iran. third, in film translation, several major issues were studied, such as cultural issues, technical issues, and translation strategies. in the fourth part, the paper took a special scottish genre of film, scots braveheart, the historical epic film, examined and then addressed the studies of film translation in the context of iranian culture as a particular case. finally, the paper argued that audiovisual translation includes film study, social-cultural study, multimodal analysis and specific linguistic approaches from an inter-/multidisciplinary perspective and then pointed out potential future developments in audiovisual translation studies at universities.
