germination pattern of salicornia persica and salicornia bigelovii as an adaptation to environmental conditions

The most critical aspect of plant survival and reproduction is seed germination. germination testing is often themost reliable way of assessing viability, but the selection of appropriate methods is complex. this study aimed toevaluate the effect of the influence of three constant temperatures viz. 15°c, 20°c and 25°c, 2 alternatetemperatures viz. 20/25°c, 20/30°c, and five germination media viz. between paper (bp), top of paper (tp),pleated paper, perlite and sand on germination of s.persica and s.begelovii. the optimum temperature for thegermination of s.persica and s.bigelovii seeds was recorded “25°c and 20-30°c”, while the suitable germinationmedia was recorded “bp and tp” respectively. the highest germination percentage 90.75 recorded at 25°c forseeds of s.persica using pleated paper and 65.75 at 20-30°c for seeds of s.begelovii germinated on top of thepaper, while the lowest germination percentage 3.5 was observed at 20-30°c for seeds of s.begelovii in sandsubstrate.
