چکیده    Teaching foreign language in turkish-speaking context has its own potential problems due to the lack of authentic language input. turkey is a foreign language context. this hinders learners in their mastering foreign language like english in a short time. moreover, other problems caused by poor instructional planning contribute to this process negatively. with these potential hindrances, the present study aims to review what other challenges incapacitate for teaching/learning of foreign language in turkish context. this study investigated the difference between monolingual (persian) and bilingual (turkish and persian) speakers as efl learners in terms of use of language learning strategies.the findings suggested that highest level of needs were indicated with regard to developing teachers’ english language proficiency and speaking skills, improving knowledge and skills in english language teaching methodology, incorporating technology into language teaching, and materials development and adaptation. despite the wide range of perceived professional development needs, the participants were reluctant in various studies.
