|
The dehydrogenation of propane was investigated using iron oxide-based catalysts on two supports. ceo2 and sio2 as supports were used. the samples were prepared through the impregnation method. the concentration of acidic sites of the catalyst was determined by temperature-programmed desorption of nh3 (nh3-tpd) analysis. the supported catalyst with ceo2 had the higher concentrations of acidic sites. fe2o3/ceo2 sample had a higher content of weak acid sites compared to fe2o3/sio2. the fe2o3/sio2 catalyst had better performance. the effect of the presence and absence of carbon dioxide was checked out in the dehydrogenation reaction. the presence of carbon dioxide increased the stability of the catalyst.
