چکیده
|
Musculoskeletal injuries are common disorders in ordinary life and sports activities. these injuries may cause to arise pain and soreness that suffer the patients for a long period. protection, rest, ice, compression, and elevation (price) are the most popular care methods on acute-phase clinical practice. however, magnetic imaging studies have shown these care methods need a considerable period to get the effective treatment. so, the appropriate treatment duration is still on debate. chronic pain may happen because of inappropriate treatment, especially in the early stages of muscle injuries. therefore, substantial effective treatment is considerably critical for the prevention of chronic pain, especially in the early stages of injury. photobiomodulation therapy (pbmt) has been reported as an effective method in pain reduction and healing process. recent studies have been shown critical roles of cytokines during the transition period of acute to chronic pain phases. effects of pbmt on cytokines and as a result acute stages of musculoskeletal injuries, compare with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs revealed that pbmt might have high potential to provoke the transition stages. pbmt also offers better risk-benefit profile compared to nsaids. pbmt can be considered as a safe non-pharmacological method of care in treatment of acute pain.the purpose of this presentation is to review former knowledge and introduce new personal experiences to evaluate application of photodynamic therapy as an effective modality in inflammatory phases caused by muscle injury.
