Introduction: antibiotic resistance is one of the most serious global public health threats worldwide. the aim was to investigate the effect of methylene blue evoked using red laser diode at wavelength of 660 nm on multidrug-resistant isolates of staphylococcus aureus.methods: different concentrations of methylene blue 0.05, 0.1, 0.5 and 1 µm were excited using a laser diode at different irradiation times of 60, 150, 300 and 600 seconds and its inactivation effect on the multidrug-resistant isolates of staphylococcus aureus was evaluated.results: multidrug-resistant isolates of staphylococcus aureus were sensitive to photodynamic inactivation and slowed bacterial growth rate by increasing methylene blue concentration and increasing time interval.conclusion: using methylene blue among with a red laser diode at wavelength of 660 nm can be a good option to kill multidrug-resistant isolates of staphylococcus aureus.
