Various coatings are commonly applied to titanium alloys in order to enhance their corrosion resistance for industrial applications. this study focuses on the fabrication of tic coatings on ti6al4v through laser cladding using tic powders. the research delves into the impact of tic coatings on the phase constituents, microstructures, and corrosion resistance of the ti6al4v alloy. the scanning electron microscope (sem) analysis revealed that the crystalline grains in the tic coatings were refined, attributed to the presence of tic. moreover, increasing the scan speed during laser cladding resulted in finer and more compact dendrites, ultimately enhancing the corrosion resistance of the tic coatings. the corrosion behavior of ti-6al-4v and tic/ti-6al-4v were studied by using a compact potentiostat/galvanostat at room temperature in sodium chloride solution. corrosion parameters were interpreted in this media which involve corrosion potential and corrosion current density, since the results of corrosion potential indicate that the surface of ti6al4v is more corrosive than tic/ti-6al-4v while the result of corrosion current density indicates that tic/ti-6al-4v is more resistive in saline solution. cathodic and anodic tafel slopes that were used to calculate the polarization resistance and the rate of corrosion to know which materials is more resistant material and the result was: tic/ti-6al-4v.
