investigation of the anti-corrosion properties of the hard epoxy coatings for carbon steel

Corrosion carbon steel to aggressive ions such as chlorides and sulfates due to seawater infiltrates the concrete’s pores provides significant risks to the integrity of reinforced concrete structures. herein, a hard epoxy coating has developed as a super anti-corrosion layer for carbon steel. a one-step brush painting process is used to prepare hard coatings. results depicts that the hard coating shows remarkable improvement in corrosion protection for carbon steel. significantly, it exhibited higher in both impedance modulus (|z|) and corrosion resistance (rcorr) results approaching 1.87 ω cm2 for the hard-coated sample than those of 1.00 ω cm2 for the bare sample, indicating its superior corrosion resistance performance. besides that, the superior inhibitive effect of the hard coating is also proven by the polarization results, in which the e corr and icorr values are reduced, thereby achieving an excellent anti-corrosion property.
