Abstract
background & purpose:the rapid spread of fake news on social media has become a significant challenge in information security and cybersecurity, particularly in the context of passive defense. early detection of such news is crucial for enhancing cybersecurity and controlling the dissemination of misinformation. this paper addresses the problem by leveraging the correlation between news headlines and their bodies to identify fake news, aiming to improve detection accuracy through advanced deep-learning techniques.methodology: this study proposes a novel approach based on transfer learning and stance analysis. two independent bert language models are fine-tuned separately on the headline and body of news articles. deep neural networks analyze these components, and their correlation is measured to determine the authenticity of the news. the methodology involves preprocessing the text, encoding the headline and body using bert, and employing a fully connected linear classifier to evaluate their alignment.findings: the results demonstrate that the proposed approach significantly improves detection accuracy compared to existing methods. by treating the headline and body as independent components and measuring their correlation, the model effectively identifies discrepancies indicative of fake news. the method achieves higher precision and recall, showcasing its potential for real-world applications in cybersecurity.conclusion: the study highlights the effectiveness of transfer learning and stance analysis in fake news detection. the proposed model offers a robust solution for identifying misinformation, contributing to enhanced cybersecurity and information integrity. future work could explore multilingual datasets and additional contextual features to further refine the model’s performance.
