چکیده    In this paper, the effect of sandwich panel layout on its crushing behavior has been investigated experimentally. the studied specimens include two two-layered sandwich panels with a bidirectional interconnected corrugated core made of perforated steel sheet with two different layouts. the core profile of these structures is of isosceles trapezoidal shape. in this research by changing the arrangement of the corrugated core layers, the mechanical properties of the structures, including the ultimate strength and the energy absorption capacity under the compressive load, are studied experimentally using a quasi-static compression test up to the densification stage. the test results showed that the core layout of the two-layered sandwich panel has a prominent effect on the failure modes as well as the amount of applied force and energy absorption of these structures. in one test specimen (layout2), the two cores are all upright with the base of the trapezoidal core down, while in the other specimen (layout1), the lower core is upside down, with the trapezoidal base up. the layout1 specimen and layout2 specimen, have energy absorption of 197.9 and 404.8 j under compression test, respectively.
