translation method of phrasal verb in the philosophical book

Because not all idioms have exact parallels in the target language, translating idioms has always been a difficult decision-making process for translators. the meaning of a phrasal verb might change despite the fact that its form remains the same since its interpretation is dependent on the surrounding circumstances. changes in the meanings of phrasal verbs may also be attributed to the fluidity of the language. as a result of this, the translation of phrasal verbs presents translators with a wide variety of challenges. the corpus of the study was a philosophy book called death and its persian translation. this case study aimed to explore the strategies which were applied for translating phrasal verbs in the corpus of the study from english to persian and identify the most frequently used strategies. the study employs a number of mona baker s suggested underlying methods, including similar meaning and form, dissimilar meaning and form, paraphrase, and omission. therefore, a total of 224 phrasal verbs were explored. the data were evaluated based on baker s method to determine the most common strategies. the findings reveal that translation by using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form at 47.32% was applied in the translation of phrasal verbs, and this strategy is the most commonly used strategy in translating phrase verbs. next, translation by paraphrase, with 5.35%, is the lowest strategy in translating phrasal verbs.
