Writing is a way to influence readers, and arguments let them, accompanied and engaged with the text. writers should consider how to present their claims. to do this, they should put themselves in the reader s positions to know how to answer their probable questions, and engaged them. in this library research, the researcher investigates argumentative writing, focused on the stance and engagement as interaction features; also some examples from pattern plus as a general textbook were presented. the results of this study indicated that stance features presented to speak conservatively, showed an emphasis on the role of important tools in critical situations, expressed regret over what happened, and emphasized the repetition of a painful fact, and as last stance features were presented their opinion recklessly. the engagement features presented to quote from the characters addressed readers and engaged them (directly or indirectly), they are cognitive form (directly) more than physical, questions were asked directly or rhetorically, writers presented their personal opinion directly without logical reasoning by emphasizing on personal opinion, and they expressed personal opinion explicitly without giving a logical and credible claim. this research will gain a better understanding of argumentative writing, and the interactive features to help the literature teachers as well as the students to have a closer view toward expanding the concept of argumentative writing in general texts, it is necessary to be aware of the interaction features they want to use.
