In recent years, the use of flexible composites has become very important in the discussion of shielding high-energy gamma rays. due to the many problems that lead shields have, such as high cost, toxicity, difficult processability and heavy, production and design of lead-free shields, including reinforced polymer composites, has been on the agenda of researchers. the aim of this study was to prepare lightweight composites with the highest protective strength based on styrene-butadiene rubber (sbr). montmorillonite clay (mmt) and molybdenum oxide (moo3) were used as fillers. to investigate the shielding properties of the prepared composites (linear attenuation coefficient, absorption rate, half-layer layer (hvl) and tenth-layer layer (tvl)) were evaluated with europium (152eu) radioactive source. other properties of the prepared composites were studied by tensile and sem analysis. among the prepared samples, the sample containing moo3 and mmt showed the best performance for absorbing rays with 99% absorption rate.
