the effect of fumed silica and ath on the vulcanization and mechanical properties of silicone rubber

This work discusses the mechanical properties and vulcanization of silicone compositions with aluminum hydroxide (ath) and silica as fillers. the variables investigated are the different amounts of silica with and without ath. cure parameters were provided by an oscillating disk rheometer. it was observed that with the addition of aluminum trihydrate, the physical and mechanical properties decrease, as well as the curing speed index, and the curing time increases by 90%. the formation of a chemical bond between the polymer and the silica filler increased physical and mechanical properties of the compound.
