geminal surfactants made by curcumin/bisimidazolium based ionic liquid

Geminal surfactant with self-assembly ability to create micelles are great of interests, particular if they carry antimicrobial agents. here in the present work, a series of geminal surfactants based on curcumin (as a core) and imidazolium based ionic liquids (side blocks) with different alkyl chains from c2 to c6 as spacer were synthesized (cur-bimil-cn, n = 2, 3, 4, 6). the results showed that the critical micelle concentration (cmc) was decreased with alkyl chain due to induced flexibility by longer alkyl chains facilitating self-assembly. also, the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration (mic) was obtained for cur-bimil-c6 showing its higher antibacterial activity against s. aureus and e. coli bacteria. finally, self-healing hydrogels based on pva, cur-bimil-c6, and curcumin are preparing to deliver anti-inflammation drug (curcumin) to the wound.
