studying the microstructures of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene and hydrobrominated hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene using nmr analysis

1hnmr and 13cnmr spectra were used to study the structure of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (htpb). the qualitative presence of the bromine group in the resin structure, the percentage of unsaturation of resin and the percentage of its microstructures can be calculated using hnmr and cnmr analyses. bromine is a good leaving group and can be easily replaced by other groups, including nucleophiles. therefore, modified hydrobrominated compounds can be used as precursors in subsequent syntheses.
