Superhydrophobic waterborne epoxy (fwep) resin was synthesized by the reaction of epoxy resin e54 (hfba), 3-aminobenzyl alcohol (aba), 2-aminoethyl methacrylate (aema), 2,2,3,3,4,4,4-heptafluorobutyl acrylate (hfba) and 4-amino-3-fluro-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl alcohol (aftfmb) as well as glacial acetic acid as neutralizer. cross-linked fwep was synthesized by anquamine 735 as curing agent. the influence of hfba content on fwep dispersion and films were investigated by comparing fwep with waterborne epoxy (wep) in which no hfba was used. the structure of fwep was determined by fourier transform infrared (ftir) spectra and particle size analysis and properties of fwep film were determined by contact angle, and morphology of the dispersion particles was observed by transmission electron microscopy (tem). the contact angle of the cross-linked fwep film was much higher than hwep film. by parrticle analysis, the particles size of fwep was higher than those of wep.
