Chitosan (cs)/polyvinyl alcohol (pva) hydrogel beads were synthesized and used for removal of copper from aqueous solutions. adsorption of cu(ii) on beads were studied as a function of different weight percentage of glutaraldehyde (gla), average molecular weight of cs and ph of the solution. the maximum removal percentage (97%) was achived by cs at medium average molecular weight and 3 %wt. of gla. also, the results showed that the cs/pva beads were stable in solutions with ph=7. conclusively, synthesized beads are an effective adsorbents for cu(ii) removal from aqueous solutions.
