The growth of the population on the earth and increased demand for safe water sources led to a deep investigation of wastewater treatment. mixed matrixed membranes (mmms) are a class of economical and efficient toolboxes frequently used for water treatment. the current study represents a room temperature method for the synthesis of a hydrazone-linked covalent organic framework (hz-cof) to be added into polysulfone (psf)/ poly n-vinylpyrrolidone (pvp) polymeric matrix. various analytical techniques were utilized to characterize the obtained hz-cof@psf/pvp mmm with different concentrations of hz-cof. for instance, the crystallinity of the prepared cof was thoroughly investigated by x-ray diffraction. by adding only 1.0 wt.% of hz-cof into psf/pvp matrix, the dye rejection of 92% and 88% for basic blue 41 and methyl violet, respectively. adding hz-cof as a filler into psf/pvp polymeric matrix provides mmm with excellent performance in removing cationic dyes in a dead-end stirred cell.
