effect of pla on tensile properties of soft pvc

A series of pvc/pla samples were prepared in an internal mixer with various concentrations of pla. mechanical properties of the samples were investigated using tensile tests. according to the results, by adding 10% pla to pvc, the tensile strength and fracture energy increased whereas the modulus did not change much, which is a very good result. in this sample, the mechanical properties are improved and pla contributes to the biodegradability of the sample. with a further increase of pla (20-30%), the mechanical properties are weakened possibly due to the improper distribution of pla in the pvc matrix at higher pla contents.
