evaluation of peel strength of a polyurethane/acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive

Peel strength is a significant property in pressure-sensitive adhesives (psas). in order to take advantage of properties of both polyurethanes and acrylic polymers, in this study, a tpu-psa containing 17.5% hard segment was blended with an acrylic copolymer psa comprised of 82 wt. % butyl acrylate and 18 wt. % methyl methacrylate. the blends containing more than 40 wt. % tpu showed higher peel strength than the pure psas, due to the proper balance in their viscoelastic properties resulting in suitable wetting and dissipation.
