This article provides an overview of multilevel converters it is related to different types and their developments. then, it discusses the change from the internal combustion engine car (icev) to ev. finally, a comparative study on there were mmc topologies by categorizing them into five sections according to their types and share. the first part includes topologies that follow the same mmc architecture cascading half bridges the second section discusses topologies consists of cascaded h-bridge (chb) and registered points contribution compared to conventional topologies. third the section focuses on topologies that reduce switching elements it significantly makes the whole system more reliable and cost effective competitive, more efficient and more compact in size.
