کتابت قرآن و تزئینات آن در دوره صفوی در ایران، از تنوع بیشتری برخوردار بوده است. یکی از شیوه های نگارش قرآن، بصورت رولی است که از نمونه های آن می توان از قرآن رولی که در کتابخانه چستربیتی دوبلین قرار دارد، نام برد. تزئینات و آرایه های قرآن، معمولا از صفحات آغازین، افتتاحیه ، نشان داخل متن و نشان های حاشیه تشکیل شده اند. به نظر می رسد آرایه ها و تزئینات و تذهیب قرآن های رولی در عین داشتن شباهت به نسخه های معمولی، دارای تفاوت هایی نیز هست. حال سوال اصلی این پژوهش این است که قرآن رولی نسخه چستربیتی دارای چه خط و تزئیناتی بوده و این تزئینات از چه ساختاری برخوردارند. هدف از این پژوهش دستیابی به شیوه های اجرایی و تزئینی قرآن های رولی در این نسخه است. برای دستیابی به پاسخ سوالات و اهداف پژوهش، روش توصیفی تحلیلی مناسب است. داده های پژوهش از منابع کتابخانه ای و تصاویر از سایت کتابخانه چستربیتی گرفته شده است. نتایج به دست آمده نشان می دهد که در قرآن رولی برای صفحات آغازین از تزئینات بند ختایی استفاده شده که در بین آنها از کتیبه های لوزی، پلکانی، شمسه ای با خطوط کوفی بنایی استفاده کرده اند. بالای سرسوره و سوره فاتحه الکتاب، لوح تذهیب الوان مرصّع به رنگ زمینه لاجورد قرار دارد که بر اثر رولی بودن و دور خود پیچیده شدن، در برخی از قسمت ها رنگ هایش ریخته شده است. در متن و حاشیه نسخه به جز نشان فصل آیات هیچ نشان دیگری دیده نمی شود. دیگر ویژگی ممتاز این نسخه، استفاده از خط کوفی بنایی دورتا دور متن اصلی است در حالی که این خط برای تزئینات مساجد و ابنیه مذهبی رایج تر بوده است.

formal analysis of the ornaments of the quran scroll in the chester beatty museum

writing the quran and its decoration has enjoyed more variety in the safavid era. one of the ways of writing the quran is writing it on a paper roll which for an instance of it we can refer to the paper roll quran which is in the chester beatty library located in dublin. quran's decorations and ornaments usually consists of homepages, opening pages, in-text marks and margin marks. it seems that while the ornaments and decorations and illuminations of paper roll qurans have some similarities to the standard versions, they have some differences as well. now the main question of this research is what decorations and script does the chester beatty version of roll paper quran have and what structure do these decorations have. the goal of this research is to acquire the executive and decorative methods of the paper roll qurans of this version. to acquire the answers to the questions and the goal of this research, the analytical method is suitable. the research data has been derived from library resources and the pictures are from the chester beatty library website. results show that in paper roll quran, arabesque decorations have been used for the homepages and among these paper roll qurans, diamond, staircase and sun like inscriptions with bannai script have been used. there is an inlaid illumination tablet in azure background above fatiha-al-kitab surah which the color has fallen off in some parts due to it being a paper roll and rolled. in the text and margin of this version, other than surah stop signs no other sign can be seen. another excellent feature of this version is the use of bannai script all around the main text while it had been more common in decorating the mosques and religious buildings
