the necessity for revaluing the basis of chemistry education in universities

higher education plays an essential role in the sustainable social, cultural and economic development of any country, and this role is more important and priority in our country. the continuous and significant reduction of sustainable development indices, along with the lack of financial resources and infrastructure for rapid improvement, shows the urgent necessity to get rid of this vicious economic cycle and save the country, and knowledge based development is the only way out. unfortunately, higher education in its current state, is not able to lead the knowledge based development and should reach its real position in sustainable development by revaluing the foundations and values of higher education. chemistry is one of the fundamental fields in the oil, gas, petrochemical and energy industries. according the considering the undeniable role of these industries in providing energy, financial resources and sustainable development of the country, a chemistry graduate must have a set of skills and abilities to be a versatile professional, deeply motivated by sustainable and environment oriented management and standby to work for the tomorrow’s jobs.
