   the effect of resveratrol on cervical cancer cell growth by inhibiting tgf-β gene expression

چکیده    Background & objective: resveratrol is a natural polyphenolic compound with anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties. transforming growth factor beta (tgf-β) plays a critical role in tumor growth and progression. this study was conducted with aim to investigate the modulatory effect of resveratrol on tgf-β gene expression in human cervical cancer cells (hela).materials & methods: hela cells were treated with standardized concentrations of resveratrol (50 μm and 100 μm). the ic50 value was determined, and total rna was extracted for evaluation of tgf-β gene expression by real-time pcr. apoptotic and cytotoxic effects were observed at 24, 48, 72, and 100 hours of treatment. statistical analysis was performed using graphpad prism and one-way anova, and pearson's correlation tests. p<0.05 was considered statistically significant.results: resveratrol inhibited hela cell proliferation with an ic50 of 200 μm. treatment significantly downregulated tgf-β gene expression (p<0.05). the strongest cytotoxic and apoptotic effects were observed at 48 and 100 hours, while a weaker response was noted at 96 hours. tgf-β expression peaked on day four but declined slightly with higher resveratrol concentrations.conclusion: resveratrol suppresses cervical cancer cell growth and downregulates tgf-β2 and tgf-βr2 mrna expression in a time- and dose-dependent manner, supporting its potential as an adjunct therapeutic agent in cervical cancer
