   selected salivary parameters and dental caries experience in female with polycystic ovary syndrome

چکیده    Background objective: one of the most common endocrinopathies is polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos). the present study was conducted with aim to establish physical characteristics (ph and flow rate) and dental caries experience among women with pcos and to assess dental caries relationship to salivarytotal antioxidant capacity and uric acid.materials methods: this comparative study was conducted at al-zahraa specialist hospital in al-miqdadiyah city /diyala /iraq. a total of 80 women participated in the study with ages ranging from 25 to 30 years. both salivary ph and flow rate were discovered immediately. after that, saliva was subjected to determine salivary tac and ua levels using elisa method. dental caries was assessed using who (2013).results: the mean value of dental caries experience, salivary (tac) and (ua) were higher in the pcos group. the mean salivary flow rate and ph were lower in the pcos group than in the control group, while dental caries fraction dmft was positively significantly correlated with tac and ds and dmft were positively significantly correlated with ua among women with pcos.conclusion: it was revealed that polycystic ovary syndrome has a significant effect on dental caries fractions additionally to changes in salivary level to the selected physical characteristics (ph and flow rate). furthermore, salivary tac and ua were elevated in pcos which can be used as indicators for the pcos diagnosis in the future.
