a review on the monotonic and cyclic behavior of sand-clay mixtures using equivalent void ratio concept

Sand-clay mixtures can be frequently found within natural soil deposits. in contrast to pure sands, fines content, plasticity index, grading characteristics and mineralogy are other factors that influence sand-clay mixtures behavior in addition to classical void ratio. in particular, the concept of equivalent void ratio has been defined in order to capture the effect of mentioned factors as a single state parameter. the present paper aims to systematically review the monotonic and cyclic behavior of sand-clay mixtures through the concept of equivalent void ratio, which has been shown as an appropriate framework for predicting clayey sands behavior for practical purposes.
