the effects of video games on spelling

According to the various studies in the field of video games and spelling performance by various researchers and the importance of spelling in language learning and teaching, video games can be effective in increasing the spelling performance of students. video games had assumed a prominent role in learning main language skills. according to the importance of spelling in learning and teaching writing, this study was an attempt to examine the effect of video games on the efl male students’ spelling performance related to the subject of english as perceived by second grade class of sama middle school in aliabad katool city. this study attempted to investigate a hypothesis of whether video games can be effective on the students’ spelling. a quasi-experimental research design with a quantitative research data-collection approach was used. data included pre-tests and post-tests. the study was conducted in april, 2012 with the two second-grade classes at sama middle school in aliabad katool city. this study will help writing and spelling scholars understand video games as an effective tool to assist spelling learning specially at elementary and middle schools.
