employing a cooperative learning technique as a means to improve iranian high school students’ grammar learning

Undeniably, grammar plays an important role in the process of language teaching and learning in the high school english classes. teaching students’ grammar is important because it helps them understand the language better and use it in an appropriate way. from the days education began, high school teachers applied traditional methods and approaches in grammar teaching in which students had to listen to their teachers lectures inactively and silently. but nowadays, the utilize of distinctive educating strategies has incredibly revolutionized the techniques of educating that make the students’ learning become meaningful and successful. one educating procedure of teaching grammar that s considered a vital component of the later approaches is cooperative learning. the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of cooperative learning activities on second year students of english as a foreign language at one high school in konarak, iran. the study included a control group and an experimental group. a total of 40 students participated in the research. the experimental group was exposed to cooperative learning activities in contrast, a control group was offered a traditional grammar learning method. in both groups, 15-item grammar tests were given before and after the two-week treatment. t-tests were utilized to analyze the gotten information. the results indicated that there is a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores in experimental group with respect to grammar learning through cooperative methods. the results of this study showed that cooperative learning had a positive effect on the grammar learning abilities of high school iranian efl learners.
