   the differential effects of online and offline modes of corrective feedback on iranian efl learners’ vocabulary enhancement

چکیده    This study investigated the effects of online and offline modes of recasts, as oral corrective feedback, on vocabulary enhancement of iranian intermediate efl learners. to this end, 66 intermediate learners were selected and randomly divided into three groups: online recasts, offline recasts, and control. then, a pre-test wasadministered and the three groups underwent treatment in which they were exposed to two modes of corrective feedback (cf) and no feedback during some vocabulary learning tasks. the treatment consisted of ten sessions during which 100 vocabulary items were covered (i.e., 10 items each session). later, the three groups took a post-test.the results of one-way anova indicated that both online and offline modes of recasts have a statistically significant effect on vocabulary enhancement of the iranian intermediate efl learners; however, online recasts group performing slightly, but not significantly better than the offline recasts group. thus, it can be concluded that the learners benefited significantly more from the cf groups than the control group; since corrective feedbackwas more efficient than no feedback in facilitating vocabularyacquisition.
