Vocabulary learning is a crucial component of english learning because vocabulary is thefoundation of english sentences and it has a vital role in communication which requires to betaught with new classroom techniques. one of the practical models is flipped classroom method (fcm). taking farzanehgan high school in ardabil as a case study to explore the effectiveness and adaptability of fcm for vocabulary learning including gerunds, this study investigated its impact on the change of efl learners' execution in high schools with a quasi-experimental plan. the content delivery was done through 3-phase instruction: before class, in class and after class. to run this research, forty high school students of the same grade were partitioned into an experimental and a control group. the former received fcm and the latter used conventional teaching method (ctm). the data were gathered before and after the end of the experiment. they were analyzed using basic and inferential statistical methods including mean scores, standard deviations, independent and paired sample t-tests, one-way ancova. the findings showed statistically significant differences in learning of gerunds. learners achieved higher performance under flipped class strategy. in light of the findings, the researchers recommend that teachers could benefit from applying fcm in english classes.
